How To Resize Your Wedding Ring
Choosing engagement rings and wedding bands are one of the most exciting events in a couple’s life! But what happens if the ring doesn’t fit just right? And how do you know if you should resize a ring? Today, we are going to share with you a few tips on when you should resize a ring and how the process works!
How To Know If You Should Resize Your Ring:
Both wedding rings and especially engagement rings usually need to be resized; it is difficult to measure a person’s finger without giving away why. There are two indications that a ring may need to be resized:
- The Ring Won’t Go On without a struggle. If a ring has a lot of trouble going over the knuckle, then it could be an indication that the ring may need to be adjusted to a slightly larger size.
- The Ring Slides On And Off Loosely. If a ring seems to glide on and off the finger effortlessly, then this is an indication that the ring may need to be adjusted to a slightly smaller size.
A ring that fits properly is one that will slide on fairly easily; yet, there will also be a moderate resistance to keep the ring in place or from sliding off. Fingers can vary in size due to weather, exercise, or recent salt intake. Throughout the year you will have days that your rings fit extra tight or a bit loose. This fluctuation in your fingers is completely normal.
How Does The Resizing Process Work?
Most rings can be sized but, some can’t. Those with gemstones placed all the way around the ring (eternity bands), platinum rings with gems set most of the way around the ring, or rings with gold plating cannot be resized.
The cost to resize a ring ranges from $40 to over $200 depending on the metal and width of the ring. More complex resizing can have a higher cost.
